There are large boat that fits 100 people or more per journey. And then there is Ambolux, the family run company where YOU can be the only passenger with your own private captain if you so wish. ■ There are many canal boat tours advertised around Amsterdam, but when I asked my hotel for the one they'd recommend for the ultimate in luxury and service, they came back with Ambolux. It's a family run company which has been going for 5 years. The manager at my hotel told me a lot of the boat tour operators approach the hotel asking to cooperate. Having thus tried several different ones herself, so she could in good conscience recommend one to her hotel guests, she concluded that Ambolux was the best.
