Her excitement is foiled when everyone is more interested in Nanette's show and tell subject, a GENUINE private eye. Despite her downer day, her dad gifts her a new New England coat. Things don't go as planned when she finds Nanette already bragging about her very own similar coat at the school.

King eats Angela's homework and to avoid getting in trouble from Mrs. Brinks, she needs a better excuse than the more far-fetched truth "My dog ate my homework". She ends up in a roller coaster of events with twists and turns going in a downward spiral with her lies.
