Happy Traveller - Season 9 Episode 7 Moldova (Part 2)
Initially, they see in the capital some historical buildings that have a direct connection with Greece, such as the church of Agios Panteleimon, the Tsoufli monastery built by two Greeks from Tsepelovo, Ioannina, and the house of Michalis Katsikas, which was one of the headquarters of the Philiki Etairia before revolution of 1821.
They then head out of town to see the beautiful Moldavian countryside. They admire vast fields of sunflowers, apple trees and vineyards and visit a historic monastery in the north-east of the country on the banks of the Dniester River. They go into a verdant canyon and cross suspension bridges to find hermitage caves as well as a spectacular waterfall.
A trip to Moldova could not include a visit to one of the country's famous wineries. They go to the most impressive underground wine cellar which is the largest cellar in the world, with tunnels 120 kilometers below the surface of the earth.
